I studied in IIT (B.Tech), got M.S. and Ph.D. from here and now a professor. My observations/opinions are as follows:

I have the misfortune of teaching 100's of students who come here with an Anna University (or Osmania) B.Tech./B.E. degree in engineering, and knows absolutely nothing. And I am not exaggerating: they cannot write an elementary program in any language (apparently they learn something called "theoretical" computer programming in which they do not actually learn to program); does not know any mathematics (most cannot integrate x*exp(x); one student could not tell me what is f(0.7) by looking at a graph of x vs. f(x)) and cannot operate simple lab equipments. It is just unbelievable! Anyway, moving on.
I am not sure why people jump onto drawing conclusions so fast...look at the above post from a so called professor....he encountered a couple of a folks from some universities & concludes that those universities are just crappy....!! Many of my colleagues are from the professors' "oh-so-good" list of IITs/univs and they are no better!! (In fact, some of them suck so bad)!!

Now another question for you prof....how come are you working in a university that's giving admissions to such a bunch of crappy folks...!!?? we need to write to Sen Joe Lofgren now more than ever..she will try to push the legal bill..also we need to write to her to compensate for some of the waiting time ...so that it gets counted for the citizenship..at least from when the I-485 was applied..I think we will see some sort of push for this ..my only concern is that we again will get caight with the illegals and our issue will be pushed to the side

We all are going through hard time, but we do not need to display our hard feelings for someone through the forum! If you are upset at someone or if you have complains, email the Admin or a Super Moderator.
Do not write rude. Be a little professional at your behavior and communicate professionally.
Now, the fool is trying to change the subject by asking ppl to join the rally. Why in the world wud ppl trust him? The thread is barely 10 pages and after realizing that therez no point in discussing about what this thread is all about, he has shifted subject loyalites. How lame and insane is this guy? Pappu, LogicLife where r u guyz? Why dont u ban him?

@OP, Yes. You can open LLC and/or S-Corp on EAD. If you plan on working for the same company, I suggest you do it in the name of your significant other if you are (un)lucky like me and married. Also checkout the option of "LLC filing taxes as a S-Corp". Here is link to more details from IRS.

Not sure if something is cooking at USCIS, last week an USCIS office called my attroney to get clarification on why we (my wife and I) are residing at separate addresses. We are in the process of relocation (company moved), my wife chose to continue her employment while she's searching for opportunities in the new location. The officer stated that they are trying to adjudicate the cases ASAP, hence he's inquiring to ensure there isnt any marriage fraud. My attorney responsed back will all the possible evidence to proved we are together.
Has anyone had a similar experience.

i thought it meant that you had to wait 4 months after your priority date is current to have any expectation of adjudication... no?
In the guideline for interpreting the dates USCIS hasn't mentioned anything about PD being current. So I think they process applications regardless of PD being current or not

If we are not meeting our target timeframes a date will be shown (example: April 16, 2008).'

There are so many unknowns.. that I don't think we can really estimate the EAD process timeline.
For instance, lets consider we all get our initial EADs (in whatever time estimation one can make with the little information one have), I believe, it will be really interesting to see how much time USCIS takes to renew EAD's. Currently it has to be renewed yearly.
They would definitely have to either increase work force or increase grant EAD renewal's of 3 years in order to cope up with the number of applications.
I hope they would have decided all of this before accepting all AOS applications otherwise they would have to do alot of leg work.
We will see in future what they have in store for us.

Yesterday I sent an e-mail to Secretary Chao indicating poor performance of Philadelphia Backlog Processing Center.
I have done that many times and all she did was referred me to head of foreign Labor certification. She knows what is happening but she could not do anything about it because her hands are tied due to the limited budget allocated for foreign labor certification. Very ironic don't you think. :mad:

I got my 485 approved yesterday. I applied for my 485 this June 13th I got my approval yesterday I am very happy about it. I hope everyone who applied will get their approval soon. Basically I am in marketing I want to get trained in java to get into IT field. Please let me know you�re thought is this a good move.

My wife is still waiting for the AP. The receipt notice gives August 6 as the receipt date. She called USCIS last Tuesday and was told that USCIS is running really slow and is taking 180 days to process APs. The lady she spoke to asked my wife to call back after "it is 180 days past her notice date". Her 180 days will complete on February 6. We have postponed out travel plans several times.

on the contrary, many people are discovering that their misperceptions aboutu legal immigs are wrong, and that before CIR the legal system needs to be fixed first.
I agree that our tone should not be negative, maybe not call it a boycott, but show them that we are protesting in a big and united way.
We have to differentiate ourselves from the illegals. Let the illegals do Rallies, Huger strikes etc.
