Anyway, it's taking four months as of now. People who filed in Feb, getting approvals in June. So,if we had filed in May then, it's Sep approval.

Where did you file your 485, and where is your 140 approved or pending, NSC or TSC? My impression is if your 140 is approved or pending at TSC, but you filed your 485 at NSC, your application will be transfered to TSC, and TSC will cash your check and issue your receipt. That is going to take more time. Correct me if i'm wrong. Any July 2nd filer in this situation has got receipt or check encashed by TSC?
I know a friend whose application was recieved at 10:45 AM on July 2nd at NSC, he got the receipt number in July III week, our application was received at 8:26 AM on july 2nd, nothing till date, checks haven't been cashed...no updates!!
So dunno how they are picking the applications, anyways there is good news that they are working on the July 2nd applications, and more & more of us are receiving the receipts numbers.:)

Priority Date to 2006 to me is like a flashlight in the middle of the tunnel. Whether battery will run out (retrogression again) before USCIS acting on my file is a miilion $ question.

I do not have updates�I wish I did. Like most people in these forums I am waiting for miracle to happen�.which probably will not happen.
To me it seems like that the members are doing there part, i.e. sending emails, making phone calls etc. But it looks like our numbers are not enough to make a change in the policy.

Some one get list from Walk In Medical Care who all went to medicals for 485 in June :D :D .
When I went for submitting and collecting medicals there were around 15 + each time last month.

Thank you karan007, pvhemanth, zappy, dvrao4, lp2007 and permfiling for the contributions. I am so happy that we were able to conclude this round with the help of only the junior members. Some of you have not posted much. Obviously, you found lot of things on this site that piqued your interest. I appreciate the fact that you did not hesitate to pull the trigger. Because of you, we can close this round and move to the final round.
I hope the final round starts with a person who visits this site regularly, find helpful suggestions and tips, and is generally happy with things moving in the right direction and knows IV is an important part of this process. Even though he supports the rally, he cannot come because he probably lives on the west coast, but would have definitely attended the rally if he or she were working in NJ, MD, PA, VA or any other neighboring states. It is your perspective. Do not bash like this about India in public forums. Feel free to experss yourselves but be honest and tell the truth.
I do not agree with overall bashing about India. It is not that bad as you have told. I have lots of friends who are neither engineers nor doctors, but doing very great job. There are accountants, lawyers, teachers, professors and self employed people who are all doing good and great.
Yes, infrastructure is bad. But it is all relative comparision. India is doing good and will do good. You have freedom to do whatever you like. Education system is good everywhere inlcuding villages. Opportunities will not chase you, you have to chase them and it is true everywhere in the world.
GC Cons:
1.You cannot enjoy the company of your parents/relatives.
2.Your wife cannot work.
GC Pros:
1.You and your family will be raised in a pollution free environment.
2.God forbid,if you ever get into an accident the cop would at least write down a complaint.If there is an emergency there would be an ambulance.My father had to go through this unfortunate experience.
3.In India, given the real estate boom , anyone who has land in cities like Mumbai /Pune would rather build a mall or residential complex instead of Schools/Colleges.People are getting jobs now. Have they wondered where their kids will go to school/college? When it comes to getting jobs in India, everyone wants a candidate from a reputed college / university which is usually associated with the number of years the place has been around.
4.If you want to settle outside cities, then you do not have access to the best in education and whatever so called infrastructure is there to offer.
5.Back home, if your kid does not grow up to become a Doctor or Engineer he/she goes so much down in the social hierarchy that it is difficult to imagine.Only careers available are Doctors/Engineers.Last option is to join call center and live a nocturnal life.

I agree with you. I think USCIS has made a conservative estimate, most likely, based on past spillover numbers. However, situation is little different this time. With the bad economy, there were less number of PERM applications filed in FY2009 that will claim visa numbers in FY2010. Also, with DOL taking ages to approve new PERM applications, there will be less applicants, that filed PERM this FY, claiming visa number. Thus, there will be lot more spillover this time than previous years. IV has taken this into consideration while doing its math but we cannot expect the same from USCIS. I think EB2I should at least move till mid if not till 2008.

I think we can all agree that our current immigration system is broken and that our schools, hospitals, and law enforcement are bearing the weight of its failures. Our prison system is overcrowded, and costs incurred from incarcerating criminal aliens continue to rise. The Department of Justice estimates that one in five federal prisoners, and more than one in ten state prisoners in Nevada, are non-U.S. citizens. That is why I support the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement initiatives that give state and local law enforcement the necessary tools to stem illegal behavior, such as the expansion of the Rapid Removal of Eligible Parolees Accepted for Transfer (REPAT) program. The REPAT program paroles non-violent criminal aliens serving state sentences so they can be deported. On a side note, some countries have treaty with US where there SS/Medicare is moved to the SS/Medicare systems in these countries. If India/China had these treaties, we would be well served. Instead of asking the US govt. to fix the problem, we should push our governments to solve this - I believe NASSCOMM has been trying something like this.
And this is a completely separate issue from getting GC here, if you want GC here, you should focus on getting that instead of getting your SS back. However, there might be a percentage who wants to go back after 6 years in H1 and they should form an alliance and push the Indian/Chinese/other govts to act on their behalf to get their money back.
It is important that we get a single message across to law makers now - reduce Green card wait times and make employees less dependent on the whims of the employers regardless of your category of application and country of birth.

Nice to see something other than economy down, GC crisis. How your wife manage to do all this. I have two sisters and both are working hard to feed their in law, even before marriage their mother in law asked for giving 20% money to her son (doctor), so he can study, arrange all facilities for him.
So I am really not understanding how your wife can do all this to you? My sister's shoul take lessons from her.
