Well I stand corrected. Last night I reported that Rima Fakih was born in the US to immigrant parents. That's what the one biography I could find that listed her birth place actually said. But a day is a long time in the news cycle and we know a lot more about America's newest sweetheart. She was, in fact, born in Lebanon and immigrated as a child. The charming Rima is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn and is hoping to attend law school when her reign is over. Perhaps a career as an immigration lawyer?

Folks,

I have a question about a new H1-B application while I-485 is pending. If I-485 is pending and the person is currently working on EAD with expired H1-B, is there a requirement that the person has to leave the country to apply for a new H1-B based on pending I-485? If yes, will it affect the green card process negatively?

My attorney says that as there was a gap in H1 status, one has to leave the country for a new H1 application, even though it is with the same employer.

How quickly can we change the job safely after receiving a GC?

They don't verify anything. They ask you to fill in a form I don't remember the form number. I remember they were asking your full name, SSN, Address in US, Country of citizenship, place of birth, your father's and mother's first name.

I would really appreciate it, if someone could give me some advice.

Here is my situation, in January 2005, I married my girlfriend, who I had dated for little over a year. She is a US born citizen, so we decided to file for my permanent residency upon marriage. Upon receipt of my Green Card in Jan 2008, I filed for naturalization. Our relationship started heading south last year. We tried counseling and it didn't work out. We finally decided to part our ways amicably in Sep, 2009.

I am 34 years old and for reasons unknown to me, I am showing signs of age. I have been also getting some pressure from my family in India to remarry. Though I do not have any plans to marry immediately, I wasn't sure if my getting naturalized in February 2009 would have any impact on marrying someone from India sometime next year?

Please let me know, if there are any cooling off period required?

Hello All,



I am currently working for Employer A for the past 6 years and my current H1 is Expiring in May End 2010. MY employer says he will file the H1 in may starting. In the meantime I got an offer from a future employer B who applied for my H1 transfer in premium processing. We got an RFE and the new employer is working on that .



My question is that lets say After responding to RFE by my future employer B , god forbid say the H1 transfer is denied. Would this denial have any impact on the H1 Extension that my current employer A plans to file in couple of weeks using I-140 approved petition. Please advice ?

Hello everyone,

My questions are about F1 to H1b change status.

I applied an H1b through a consultant company on April 2008. I received a notice from USCIS told me had been lottery H1b. However, until now my case is still pending. My OPT expired on Jan, 2009 and can't be extended. I am in the middle of the 60 days grace period right now. My questions are:

1. If the 60 days expire and my case is still pending, can I legally stay in US till H1b approved?

2. If my H1b is rejected and the 60 days expire, how many legally days can I stay in US? Do I have another 30 grace period days?

3. In my situation, what should I do right now? Do I need to find a school to keep my F1 visa? When is the best time to find a school?

4. Can I transfer H1b to another company during my H1b is pending?

I am very appreciate if you can answer these questions. :)

Hi friends,

Today I had a LUD on my old I-129 (approved in Aug 2005). The online status say: �On August 29, 2007, the post office returned our last written notice on this case as undeliverable. This can have serious effects on the processing of this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent.�

I'm no more working for this employer and I�ve changed to a new employer a year ago. What does this status mean?Any ideas?

Does this cause any problem to my current GC process which was sponsored by current employer?
